Drive from Dehradun to Kuflon Base Camp

Altitude: around 4,600 ft.

Duration: around 7 – 8 Hours

  • The escort agents will pick the trekkers form Dehradun either in a car or a tempo traveller to reach the Kuflon Base Camp, from where the trek will start. The duration of the drive will be around 8 hours.

  • The drive will be extremely memorable and scenic and you will be passing through dense and serene forests. Rejoice as you pass by beautiful attractions like Bhagirathi River, River Ganges and the town of Uttarkashi.

  • Spend the night in a campfire.

TREK FROM KUFLON TO SHILDHA

Altitude: 6,780 ft.

Duration and Distance Covered: 4 hrs (4 km)

  • The ultimate beginning of the trek will take place from Kuflon Base Camp to Shildhuni on the second day.

  • Start your trek and as you make way through the villages, you will find a steep path of about a kilometre and a half.

  • Next, you will encounter an ascent of about 2 km.

  • On your trail, encounter a rich amount of flora like pine trees, oaks, maples, etc-. You will also spot a number of rare birds and mysterious creatures.

Shiladhuni to Chaithathar

Altitude: 9,600 ft.

Duration and Distance: 5 to 6 hrs, 5 km

  • On the third day, you will encounter a trail with increased difficulty and grading.

  • As you reach the Kuari (around 7,700 ft), pass through abundant forest stretches, filled and covered in snow.

  • Take the ascent from Kuari to reach the Valley viewpoint, from where you can soak up some really great picturesque views of Uttarakhand.

  • Lastly, continue the trail to reach Chathathar, which will be the stop for the day.

Chaithatar to Mukta Thal

Altitude: 10,800 ft.

Duration and Distance: 4 hrs (4 km)

  • Again, you will be encountering difficult trails ascending slowly upto Mukta Tal.

  • Encounter some awesome wild creatures, birds and beautiful trees as you make our way across the trail.

  • Walk upto the viewpoint from where you will get glimpses of Mt. Bandarpoonch, Nag Tibba and Kalang.

Mukta Thal to Mukta Top to Kuari

Altitude: Ascend upto 11,838 ft. and then descend upto 7,781 ft.

Duration and Distance: 6-7 hrs, 9 km

  • On the fifth day, you will ultimately reach the Mukta Top. Earlier, the trek used to be a little rugged and uncleared, however you will wind a well-maintained ascending trail upto the top.

  • Upon reaching the top, soak up the views of Bandarpoonch, Gangotri III, Nag Tibba and Kalanag Ranges.

Kuari to Kuflon- Drive to Dehradun

Altitude: 4,600 ft.

Duration and Distance: 4 hrs, 6 km

  • Drive Duration : 6-8 hrs (covering 155 km with stops in between)

  • On the final day, descend from Kuari on the steep trail through the meadows and forests.

  • Come across a rich variety of flora and fauna like the Black Bear, Deer, Swamp Deer, Snow leopard and so on.

  • Once you arrive back at the Kuflon Camp, spend some time rejoicing the final moments and then take the transport to Dehradun (ISBT Dehradun).

What to Pack for Mukta Top Trek
