Arrival at Kathmandu

  • On the first day of Ghorepani poon hill trek you will arrive at the Kathmandu Airport and tranferred to the hotel.

  • You would spend the rest of the day at the hotel and prepare yourself for a good trek ahead.

Kathmandu to Pokhara

  • You would set off for Pokhara from Kathmandu early in the morning and by the afternoon you would reach Pokahara Valley and stay there for the rest of the day.

  • The drive would take upto 7 hours hours. You can explore the local market areas in the afternoon and enjoy a hot coffee with local delicacies in the evenings to beat the cold of Kathmandu.

  • Enjoy the beauty of the peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and stay overnight at the hotel.

Ghorepani - Poon Hill - Ghandruk

  • You would leave the Pokahara valley in the morning after a good breakfast to move furhter towards Ghandruk.

  • The trek would start on the 3rd day from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga via Birethanti, located at an altitude of 1577 meters.

  • On this exciting Poon Hill trek you would pass through several hamlets and settlements. After reaching the final destination of Tikhedhunga you would spend the rest of the day at the lodge.

Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

  • You would cover the distance from Tikhendhunga to Ghorepani.

  • Ace yourself for a good 6 hour long trek ahead which will begin with a steep 2 hours ascend and then would become gentler.

  • On the 4th day of the Poon Hill trek you will pass through scenic views of Machhapuchhare (6997), Hiunchuli (6441) and Annapurna south ( 7219 m).

  • After reaching the destination of the day, prepare for your stay at the lodge.

Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

  • Get ready for a 7 hour long trek from Ghorepani to Tikhendhunga and then Pokhara.

  • You will begin the Ghorepani poon hill trek with an early morning trip to Poon Hill, from where the views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), TukuchePeak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.) and several other snow capped mountain peaks are visible.

  • After enjoying ethereal scenic views and taking a healthy breakfast you would begin the trek.

  • While descending the hills you would pass through deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos, oaks and waterfalls.

Drive from Pokhara to Katmandu

  • During the retreating journey you will pass through Damauli, Dumre, Muglin and Kurintar. You can stop by the eye-pleasing attraction of Kurintar and enjoy a cable car ride to reach Manakamana Temple.

  • You would stop at Naubishe, and climb upto Thankot which is the gateway to Kathmandu.

What to Pack for Poon Hill Trek?

  • Backpack- Start the preparations for your Poon Hill trek by finding yourself a suitable pair of trekking shoes, a backpack with a capacity of 50-70 litres.

  • Clothes- Pack yourself synthetic clothes instead of cotton t-shirts/tops, thermal wears and a padded jacket with a hood.

  • Other Items- If you're planning to trek during the winter seasons then pack sunglasses, suncap, hand gloves, wollen cap and 3 to 4 pairs of socks.

  • Toiletries - Carry a light toilet kit stuffed with miniature size products like toothbrush, deodorant, moisturizer, lip balm, toilet roll, toothpaste and don’t overload shampoos or soaps.

  • Medical Kit - Make sure to pack a personal medical kit consisting of aspirin, band-aid, anti-diarrhea medicine, cough & cold medicine, anti- AMS medicine like Diamox or Acetylzolamide.

  • By Air - The quickest way to reach Pokhara is by booking a flight to the Tribhuvan International Airport located in Kathmandu. You can take a cab/taxi or a domestic flight to Pokahara, where the Ghorepani poon hill trek would begin.

  • By Bus & Train - The other way to reach Pokhara is by booking a train upto Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, taking a bus further to Sonauli and thereafter to Pokahara.

  • The Poon Hill trek route would begin with your arrival at the Kathmandu Airport and pass through several beautiful places like the Valley of Pokhara.

  • You would take a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, it would be about 7 hours long. There are different trek routes for the summit and all of them start at Poon Hill.

  • From Pokahara you can take a trive to Nayapul and start the trek to Hile, located at an altitude of 1430 meters.

  • You would continue to follow the trek route from Hile to Ghorepani ( 2,840 meter) on a 6 hours long trek.

  • From Ghorepani you would take a morning trip to Poon Hill and arrive back at Nayapul.

  • Make your way from Nayapul to Kathmnadu and from there to the airport.
