Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Drive from Haridwar – Auli (2450 m, Drive of 280 km, 8-9 hour)

    Start your tour by meeting at the Haridwar railway station at 7:00 AM and from here drive to Auli. This drive will surpass through the holy townships of Devprayag and Rudraprayag as you follow the rivers of Ganga and Alaknanda. Arrive at Auli and unwind at a lodge arranged for you where you can spend the night.

  • Day 2 -

    Trek from Auli – Khulara (3225m, 6 hour trek)

    Start your day by relishing a delectable breakfast and after a short drive of 5kms, reach the point where the trek starts from where you can begin hiking to Khulara. Cut through Auli meadows that make an ideal skiing location. On the way, capture sights of Nanda Devi peak and other majestic mountains. From the meadows, continue trekking through verdant forests thriving with a variety of bird species and reach the beautiful prairies of Gurson. Climb down to arrive at another expanse of thickets with Oak, Chestnut, Deodar and Maple trees. Post this you will arrive at the campsite of Tali but continue onwards for a couple of more hours. After a long walk, reach Khulara’s camp flourished with a meadow and sights of mountainous landscapes. Set up camp here in tents and retire for the night under the star-lit sky.

  • Day 3 -

    Trek from Khulara – Kuari pass (3650 m) – Base of Pangarchula Peak (3650 m, 6-7 hour trek)

    Begin with an early breakfast after which you can start your Kuari pass trekking climbing up pastures painted in several of colours of green and dotted with shepherds and their sheep grazing around. Continue hiking for another 3 hours to reach Kuari Pass. Thereafter you can either head towards Kuari pass directly or to another vantage point for scenic scenes of the environs. Post this, climb down to the base camp of Pangarchula peak where you will get the chance to marvel at several peaks such as Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Neelkanth, Haathi-Ghodi, Kamet, Mana and Dronagiri.   • Day 4 -

    Trek from Base Camp – Pangarchula Peak (4700 m) – Base camp/Khulara (7-8 hour trek)

    Begin your day early at about 5:00 AM with a hearty breakfast after which you can start your day’s trek by ascending slopes of mountains to arrive at a ridge taking you to the summit. This challenging climb passes through uneven rocky terrains. Walk across deep snowy routes and due to the early start, get awe-struck by the clear mesmeric views around dawn. On this route to the top of the peak, the Nanda Devi, Trishul, Changabhang peaks are a spectacle to the eye. Spend some time feasting your eyes with the marvels before you after which you can resume walking down to the camp. Upon reaching the camp, have a celebration for the success of the trek and unwind here. You can even opt to trek down to Khulara if you arrive early at the base camp. Spend the night in the comfort of your tent.

  • Day 5 -

    Trek from Base camp/Khulara – Dhak (2000 m, 3.5 – 5.5 hour trek) – Drive from Dhak – Auli (Drive of 45 minutes)

    Start your day with a delicious breakfast and then head on out for a trek towards the road linking Joshimath to Niti-Malari valley. Hike all the way to Dhak through dense thickets and charming villages. You can even make a pit stop at the villages of Tugasi and Kharsi in order to learn more about the locals and their indigenous culture. From Dhak make a car journey to Auli where your lodge awaits you with a warm meal and a steam shower. This is where you can reside at night.

  • Day 6 -

    Drive from Auli – Haridwar (Drive of 280 km, 8-9 hour)

      Here is the basic checklist which should help you with your packing. As a general rule, it is advised that you should try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.       One needs proper trekking shoes during the trek and should strictly avoid sports shoes or sneakers. Since you have to walk in dense forests along with steep ascent and descent, it is advisable to have all-terrain water proof shoes. These are easily available. It is also advisable to walk in these shoes and get your feet used to it before the trek. Here are some brand recommendations – Forclaz, Columbia. Quechua, Zamberlan, Lafuma, Conquest and The North Face.

    5. What will be the facility of food and water during the trek?

      Freshly cooked food will be served during the trek. Vegetarian food will be served to the group keeping both health and taste in mind. Tea and Coffee will be served during the breaks. All the members are encouraged to eat well. Safe drinking water is provided to all the members throughout the trek.

    6. What all medicines I should carry? Can I take Diamox?

      Carrying medicines is important while trekking anywhere in the world. We will be carrying a first aid kit, but it is advisable to carry your own set of medicines after consulting the doctor. During the trekking, access to pharmacies is not easy. So, it’s better to carry first-aid kit. You can pack Crocin 5-6 tablets, Band-aid pack of 10, Cotton roll, Soframycin, Moov/Relispray, ORS/Electral 8-10 packets, Avomine [Motion Sickness]. It is advisable to consult a doctor for medicines before packing. Your first-aid should have anti-diarrhoea medicine such as O2, Roko, Lopamide but make sure that you don't take it unless getting to a toilet isn't an option.

      It depends on what time of the year you are visiting the peak. If you plan this trek during the initial days between April-June, there will be snow on the higher meadows and also, on the Pangarchulla peak. The snow starts melting by early to mid-May, so trekkers coming on this trail during this time should be prepared for snow conditions. Days are going to be sunny and warm 12-20 degrees, while the night temperature at the highest campsite drops to -2 to 5 degrees. Wind-chill factor is something that one needs to account and be prepared for most Himalayan treks.
