About the Trek:

Known as the beautiful trek, Dayara Bugyal Trek is a must do trek for the ones looking for some time to spend with nature and also the adventure seekers. The trek is considered as an easy to moderate trek and you will be covering a distance of 29kms. On your first day,  get ready to head out for that journey at dawn and a day-long drive from Haridwar to Barsu. Soak in the amazing sights Rishikesh, Chamba and Uttarkashi beside the Bhagirathi River. On your second day, you will start your trek from Barsu to Barnala. 

Trek for around 4kms through the Rhododendrons, Silver Oak and Deodar forests. You will reach Barnala which is at a height of 8,530 ft. Your third day, trekking includes your trek from Barnala - Dayara Bugyal. Soak in the amazing sight of some majestic peaks like Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III, Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda I & II, Black peak and Bandarpunch. Get enchanted by the panoramic views of snowy peaks, lush valleys and such from the top on your fourth day, as you trek from Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria Top and then back to Dayara Bugyal. 

On your fifth day, you will trek from Trek from Dayara Bugyal to Pichkiya. You will be trekking for around 6 to 7 hours all the way through a blend of ascends and descends dense woods, little rivulets and alpine meadows. On your sixth day, you will trek from Pichkiya to Barsu which will be around 4.5 kms. Witness the amazing Barsu village and the settlement there. On your seventh day, you will drive back from Barsu to Haridwar.

  • Day 1 - Drive from Haridwar - Barsu (220 kms/day-long drive)

    On your first day get ready to head out for that journey at dawn and a day-long drive from Haridwar to Barsu covering 220 kms

    The route trails takes you through the scenic towns of Rishikesh, Chamba and Uttarkashi beside the Bhagirathi River.

    On arriving Barsu that stands tall at 7,545 ft, settle down for the evening in a guesthouse.

    Overnight stay at the Guesthouse.

  • Day 2 - Trek from Barsu - Barnala (4 hours)

    Today you will begin your trek with a gradual ascend for 4 kms through the Rhododendrons, Silver Oak and Deodar forests.

    Reach Barnala at an elevation of 8,530 ft which is the destination for the day. It is this place which marks the beginning of the famed undulating stretches of green prairies or ‘Bugyals’.

    Set up your campsite at this ideal location and retire here for the night.

  • Day 3 - Trek from Barnala - Dayara Bugyal (5 kms)

    Today you will entails an ascending trek of about 5 kms to the high alpine meadow of Dayara Bugyal, Uttarakhand that is elevated at 9,980 ft through the Barnal grasslands.

    On arriving this vast meadow that resembles a table top, you can catch sight of some majestic peaks like Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III, Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda I & II, Black peak, Bandarpunch and such.

    Set up your camps for the night and enjoy your dinner.

    Overnight stay at the camps.

  • Day 4 - Trek from Dayara Bugyal - Bakaria Top - Dayara Bugyal (3 kms)

    Today you will climb up from Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria top, the highest point of the vast meadow standing at 12,000 ft.

    Get enchanted by the panoramic views of snowy peaks, lush valleys and such from the top.

    Depart from Bakaria back to the campsite at Dayara Bugyal.

  • Day 5 - Trek from Dayara Bugyal - Pichkiya (8 kms)

    Begin the day with a hearty meal after which starts your descent to Pichkiya that is at an elevation of 7,873 ft.

    After trekking 6 to 7 hours through a mix of ascends and descends over alpine meadows, dense woods and little rivulets.

    Reach your campsite of Pichkiya.

    Overnight stay at camps.

  • Day 6 - Trek from Pichkiya to Barsu (4.5 kms)

    Today will be your last day of Dayara Bugyal trekking where you will descend down to Barsu along a well marked trail through the surrounding thickets.

    Catch sight of the charming village of Barsu and its adjoining settlements can about half way down the trail.

    Arrive at Barsu by afternoon and camp here for the night.

    Wake up to a beautiful morning and after your breakfast drive back to Haridwar.

      Nutritious food will be provided by the organizers on the trek from time to time. Hygienic and good quality water will also be provided. You will be served Indian vegetarian food. Additional eggs will be provided during this trek. Himalayan water is considered clean but to be on the safe side you will get boiled water with chlorine tablets to keep the bacteria away.

    7. Can I have liquor or smoke while we're on the trek?

      No, consumption of these substances are strictly prohibited on any type of trek. The most important aspect needed for trekking is control and sound mindless. One should have a strong mindset to make through the difficult forest phase as there would be blind curves and steep slopes while in the trek. Usage of smoke and alcohol will seriously damage the overall function of the body. You will lose control and face some serious consequences. So, it is advisable to refrain from smoking and drinking.

      Mobile connectivity is poor in the area with only few operators functioning properly. Idea network is the one available at Barsu. All the other major networks are available at Bhatwari.       Yes, you can take a Diamox during your trek as you will trekking on a high altitude. Advisable to be take only in the beginning do your trek. Acetazolamide sold in the name of Diamox if a medication that is used to treat mountain sickness for Trekkers. If you find any symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness like headache, nausea and vomiting then you can request your trek leader for one dose of Diamox. During your trek you will come across camps which will have first aid kit and fully equipped cylinders for such situations

    11. How do I get in shape?

      A proper fit body is necessary to complete this trek. For it you need to do the following to attain a perfectly fit shaped body. A proper cardio vascular structure is needed for crossing slippery roads and gradual climbs through forest ranges, high altitude landscapes and rough terrains. For making your lungs work properly during the trek and get sufficient oxygen intake, then you need to follow some exercises that will help your cardiovascular systems function properly.
